Indiana Audubon Society (IAS) Winter Trip 2019
For this years winter trip, the IAS was in the Michigan Upper Peninsula, well known for its numerous Snowy Owls. Indeed they were in good numbers, we saw some 20 Snowy Owls in total from 2 days. Along with Snowy's we saw many winter birds like Pine & Evening Grosbeaks and a rare visitor to the area, a Northern Hawk Owl. While there weren't many lifers for us on this trip, we had wonderful looks at the only lifer we had, Bohemian Waxwings. We almost dipped on this bird after looking for it over a day or so, thanks to Brad Baumgardner's leadership, we were able to locate a few litrally at the last minute before we headed back home to Indiana. Here are some select images from that trip.
